This action‑packed, darkly comedic horror sequel expands the Ready or Not mythology with another lethal game of hide‑and‑seek. Still reeling from her brutal escape from the Le Domas family, Grace is thrust into an even more unhinged bloodbath when she becomes prey once again – this time hunted alongside her estranged sister by four rival families, each ruthlessly vying for absolute power and control of the High Seat of the Council. THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD on 4K + Blu-ray July 7 from Sony. The legendary Sinbad (Kerwin Mathews) sets off on a dangerous journey to the mysterious Island of Colossus to break the spell cast over his beloved princess (Kathryn Grant) by a diabolical magician (Torin Thatcher). Before he can save her, Sinbad must battle an awesome collection of mythical monsters: the man-eating Cyclops, a saber-wielding skeleton, a ferocious two-headed bird called the Roc and a fire-breathing dragon, all animated by the stunning visual effects mastery of Ray Harryhausen. This release also includes a large selection of bonus material.

A MAN CALLED ROCCA on Blu-ray July 14 from Kino Lorber. We here at Free Kittens have just recently discovered the wonderful world of classic French thrillers, so when another great one comes along on Blu-ray, we gotta meow it out loud! In this cold-blooded crime tale, a man named Roberto La Rocca (Jean-Paul Belmondo) goes to Marseille to help his friend Xavier (Pierre Vaneck), who has been imprisoned after a frame-up by his associate. Unflappably cool, Rocca sets out for some good old-fashioned revenge—and his own piece of the action. Teaming the newly-minted superstar Belmondo (Breathless), debuting director Jean Becker (One Deadly Summer) and a source novel by José Giovanni (Le trou, Classe tous risques), 1961's A Man Named Rocca is a noir gem riding the crest of the radical French New Wave. A decade later, Giovanni would go on to direct his own adaptation, La scoumoune a.k.a Hit Man, starring Belmondo in the same role. This release includes an all new audio commentary. 

DEEP WATER Coming to Blu-ray July 14 from Magenta Light Studios. Of course you’re ready for another shark movie directed by Renny Harlin (Deep Blue Sea). Well, so are we. In this one, a group of international passengers en route from Los Angeles to Shanghai are forced to make an emergency landing in shark-infested waters. Now they must work together in hopes to overcome the frenzy of sharks drawn to the wreckage. Starring Aaron Eckhart, Ben Kingsley, Angus Sampson, Lucy Barrett, and Molly Belle Wright. 

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ERASER Coming to 4K & Digital June 16 from Warner Bros. As exciting as it is entertaining, Eraser is unstoppable. This release also includes a selection of all new bonus features.

HOPPERS on Digital NOW and Blu-ray, 4K & DVD June 2 from Disney/Pixar. This release also includes numerous bonus featurettes, deleted scenes and a blooper reel.

 

CRIME 101 on Blu-ray, 4K and DVD June 30 from Alliance Entertainment. Set against the sun-bleached grit of Los Angeles, Crime 101 weaves the tale of an elusive jewel thief (Chris Hemsworth) whose heists have mystified police.

NIRVANA, THE BAND, THE SHOW, THE MOVIE on Blu-ray May 26 from NEON/Decal. In this indie sci-fi comedy, Lifelong friends Matt and Jay once again try to book a gig at a legendary venue when they accidentally travel back in time to 2008. 

THEY WILL KILL YOU on Digital April 28 and Blu-ray, 4K & DVD June 30 from Warner Bros. Director Kirill Sokolov unleashes a blood-soaked, high-octane horror-action-comedy in which a young woman must survive the night at the Virgil, a demonic cult’s mysterious and twisted death-trap of a lair.

 

GINGER SNAPS on 4K + Blu-ray + Digital May 19 from Lionsgate. Ginger Snaps is the story of death-fixated teenage sisters Ginger and Brigitte, who are attacked one night by a creature drawn to Ginger’s first menstrual period. 

George A. Romero’s DAY OF THE DEAD on 4K + Blu-ray June 16 from Shout Factory. In This highly anticipated four-disc release features new 4K restoration, as well as hours of new and vintage bonus material.

It’s hard to resist a good music bio. Oddly enough, some of my favorites have been about artists from genres that aren’t really my cup of tea. I’d rather shave with a cheese grater than listen to country music, but loved Coal Miner’s Daughter. Ditto Straight Outta Compton, which didn’t turn me into an NWA fan, but their story certainly gave me a newfound respect for what they accomplished.

Since I generally find folk music, Bob Dylan’s songs and his nasally twang about as enjoyable as a tax audit, I figured A Complete Unknown would be a slam-dunk. I may not be a fan, but hey, the guy’s a living legend. That’s got to be a fascinating story.

And at the very least, Timothee Chalamet uncannily speaks, sings, moves and looks like the classic ‘60s era Bob Dylan we’re all familiar with. He obviously did his homework, and for his efforts, earned an Oscar nomination. That, along with the music and admirable attention to period detail, makes A Complete Unknown worth checking out, especially for fans. However, looks aren’t everything. There’s an early scene where Dylan’s live-in girlfriend, Sylvie (Elle Fanning), complains that she has been open to him about her entire life, while he shares almost nothing of his own. One could easily say the same thing about the entire movie. 

Someone could use a breath mint.

The narrative chronicles Dylan’s career from his arrival at Greenwich village to his notorious appearance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, where he infamously “went electric,” to the consternation of fans and festival organizers. But it’s mostly an checklist of career highlights, where everyone is in such awe of Dylan’s songs and talent that he goes from zero to folk music’s poster boy faster than Superman throws on his tights. For all I know, maybe that’s just how things transpired, but in the meantime, little is revealed about Dylan himself…his upbringing, his struggles & obstacles, his life experiences. He’s depicted as rebellious, but we never know what really makes him tick.

The brief, tumultuous relationship between Dylan and Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro) creates a few sparks and would have made an interesting film by itself. But it’s ultimately just another chapter of an overly episodic narrative. Elsewhere, Edward Norton is charming as Dylan’s early mentor, Pete Seeger, while Boyd Holbrook surprisingly steals a few scenes as Johnny Cash. Conversely, Fanning’s role ends up being pretty thankless, her character reduced to watching Dylan from backstage on the verge of tears.

My daughter, who was watching this with me and knows nothing about Bob Dylan, remarked that the movie relentlessly moves along on the assumption that the audience is already familiar with the smaller details of its subject’s life and background. That’s a pretty accurate assessment. The film is chock full of music and Chalamet’s physical transformation into Dylan is remarkable. But in the end, A Complete Unknown’s main character largely remains unknown.

AMADEUS on 4K Ultra HD February 25, 2025 from Warner Bros Discovery.

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the epic historical film’s 8 Academy Awards,  Amadeus, from acclaimed director Milos Forman (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest), will be available for the first time Digitally in 4K Ultra HD and on 4K UHD Blu-ray Disc on February 25. One of the most celebrated films in cinematic history, the theatrical version of Amadeus will be available to purchase on Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc online and in-store at major retailers and available Digitally from Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, Fandango at Home and more. The film is based on the play Amadeus by Shaffer and Mozart and Salieri by Alexander Pushkin. Amadeus was produced by three-time Academy Award winner and Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award recipient Saul Zaentz. It received eleven Academy Award nominations and won eight Oscars - Best Picture, Best Directing Best Actor (F. Murray Abraham), Best Screenplay based on Material from Another Medium, Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Makeup, and Best Sound. In 2019, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” The restoration and mastering of the Amadeus original theatrical cut was completed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with the participation of Paul Zaentz.

Director Jake Kasdan’s (Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Bad Teacher) Christmas action-adventure comedy Red One, from Metro-Goldwyn Mayer Pictures, will be available for purchase on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on March 4, 2025. Red One stars Dwayne Johnson (the Fast & Furious franchise), Chris Evans (Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), Lucy Liu (Charlie’s Angels, Kill Bill), Kiernan Shipka (Twisters), Bonnie Hunt (Jerry Maguire), Kristofer Hivju (TV’s Game of Thrones), Nick Kroll (Get Him to The Greek), Wesley Kimmel, and Academy Award winner J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) as Santa Claus. In the film, Santa Claus – Code Name: RED ONE – is kidnapped, the North Pole’s Head of Security (Dwayne Johnson) must team up with the world’s most infamous bounty hunter (Chris Evans) in a globe-trotting, action-packed mission to save Christmas.
